The new US administration has already started fulfilling its mission by imposing a 100-day pause on the deportations of non-citizens present in the United States. The pause is to take effect on Friday and will be applicable to all non-citizens without a criminal record.
An immigration reform bill was also sent to the US Congress. If passed into law, the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 will provide an eight-year pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, alongside an expansion of refugee admissions. In addition, the bill is expected to cover various other immigration reforms that will potentially allow millions of deserving immigrants and their families to realize the American Dream.
