Trade NAFTA
TN visas provide for the temporary entry of Canadian and Mexican citizens into the U.S. Along with this visa, U.S and Mexican citizens are also allowed temporary entry into Canada, as well as U.S. and Canadian citizens into Mexico. The individual must be coming to pursue one of the professions listed in the NAFTA Agreement, and must possess the necessary credentials to be considered a professional in that field.
The TN visa was created in 1994 by NAFTA. While similar to the H-1B visa, it has many unique characteristics that only apply to U.S., Canadian and Mexican citizens. The time limit for this type of visa is three years, but can be renewed indefinitely in increments of three years. If a professional is using a TN visa, his or her spouse and children may also be admitted through this type of non-immigrant visa. If you are considering entering the United States, Canada or Mexico through a TN visa, a New York green card lawyer at our firm can assist you with your application.
